March 10, 2014 - With over 100 BC firefighters attending the Robert E. Hall Legislative Conference in Victoria, the BC government has announced it will introduce legislation today that allows firefighters to claim heart disease, including heart attacks, as job-related stress.

March 14, 2016, Burnaby, BC – Less than 24 hours after Burnaby Now broke the news that Mayor Derek Corrigan’s office cancelled this year’s City contribution of $3,000.00 towards the Burnaby Firefighters Annual Charitable Ball, some local residents stepped up to donate the $3,000.00 necessary to purchase flowers and other provisions in the City’s stead.

November, 2014 - As a tribute to BC Firefighters and to raise both awareness & funds, local craft brewery Steamworks Brewing Company brewed a robust and flavourful Heroica Red Ale for its 2014 fall release and in keeping with Steamworks' whimsical brand designs, this particular label featured Burnaby Heights Landmark Helen Arnold the swinging girl as a damsel in distress being rescued by a Steampunked firefighter.

May, 2013 - The 2013 Esso Cup, Canada’s National Female Midget Championship Hockey Tournament, came to Burnaby the last week of April and the Burnaby Firefighters Charitable Society showed their support for the 6,000 kids from Burnaby's schools who attended the games at the week long event at the Bill Copeland Centre.

Representatives from Burnaby Firefighters Local 323 proudly present a $100,000 cheque to the BCPFF Burn Fund on behalf of the Burnaby Firefighters Charitable Society to fund an accommodation unit, named in their honour, at the new Burn Fund Centre in Vancouver.

On Wednesday, the Day of Mourning, the city honoured workers who have been killed, injured or suffered illness due to workplace related hazards and occupational exposures. Mayor Hurley, joined by Provincial MLAs, Federal MPs and City Leaders, publicly expressed the need to vaccinate all of Burnaby's frontline workers immediately.
